Preparing Schools for New Environmental Health & Safety Standards
📅 October 27, 2026 | 🕘 9:00 – 10:00 AM
Join the Washington State Board of Health for an overview of proposed updates to environmental health and safety standards for Washington’s K–12 schools. Presenters will share the history of the current rule, recommendations developed by the Board and its Technical Advisory Committee, and the scope and timeline of the Phase 1 rulemaking process.
The webinar will explore proposed planning requirements related to indoor air quality and extreme heat and cold, along with what these changes may mean for districts operationally and financially. Attendees will learn about anticipated district responsibilities, the difference between planning requirements and facility improvements, available resources and support, and steps districts can begin taking now.
Participants will also learn how school professionals can provide input as the standards are developed and will have an opportunity to ask questions directly of State Board of Health representatives.
