WASBO's Introduction to School Accounting course is designed to provide students with the base knowledge needed of governmental accounting as it is applied in the school district environment.  Additionally, this course establishes a foundation needed to succeed in WASBO's School Accounting 1School Accounting 2 and School Accounting 3 classes. 

Course content will primarily focus on modified accrual accounting, account types, an introduction of debits and credits, the accounting equation and journal entries.  Curriculum also to include:

  • Basis of School District Accounting
  • Basic Accounting Equation and the Balance Sheet
  • Revenues, Expenditures, and the Expanded Accounting Equation

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Class Duration - 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, every Wednesday beginning September 30, 2026 through October 21, 2026.
  • Class Limit - 20 Students
  • Class Location - Each class will be conducted through WASBO's On-Demand Learning portal.
  • AIM FOR SUCCESS
  • ATTENDANCEWebcams are required and must always be on. All classes must be attended in its full duration to receive credit.
  • INQUIRE: WASBO's instructors welcome any/all questions you may have, don't be afraid to ask!
  • MATERIALS:  Information on class access and resources will be distributed one (1) week prior to the start of class via the email address provided during registration.  Be sure to review and complete presentations, activities and quizzes as instructed each week.

 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Successful completion of Introduction to School Accounting qualifies for fifteen (15) clock hour/CPE credit hours.

Please note that in the event of an unsuccessful completion or withdrawal from the course, WASBO will report to the registrant's supervisor to review student progress. 

CANCELLATION POLICY

Please note all cancellations received:

  • 30+ days prior to the event will receive a 50% refund of their registration fee
  •  29 or less days prior to the event are subject to no refund

No-shows are also subject to no refund.  If you are registered for a workshop or training and you do not attend without alerting the WASBO Team (No-Show), your district will be notified.

Name substitutions and location changes (if applicable, i.e. ASB workshops) will be accepted up to 10 working days prior to the event.
